Experience biodiversity: Baden's big natural day in June 2025!
Baden, Österreich - On May 28, 2025, the “Day of Biodiversity” is just around the corner, which takes place on June 13 and 14, 2025 in the Biosphere Park Wienerwald in Baden. The event will be organized for the 20th time and promises an exciting journey of discovery through domestic nature with a clear focus on biodiversity.
Around 100 experts will take part in the event. Your goal is to identify as many types as possible in a selected area within 24 hours. Visitors are not only invited to inform themselves, but actively participate. The day of biodiversity has become the largest field research campaign in Central Europe since its introduction in 1999. In 2011, over 25,000 nature enthusiasts took part in the campaign.
diverse program
The program of the "Biodiversity Day" is varied and includes activities such as night hikes, guided natural tours and numerous information stands. Here visitors receive valuable tips for designing their own garden. These data collected are used for research and nature conservation projects in the biosphere park.
Biosphere Park director Andreas Weiß emphasizes the importance of the cooperation of many people and organizations. "The formation of consciousness for the diversity of nature" is a central concern of this event, including the mayor of Baden Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli, which emphasizes the modern lifestyle and the careful dealings with the environment.
A highlight is the possibility to experience the animals of the night on Friday evening under the guidance of biologists. Visitors can gain exciting insights into the life of bats and night folds. On Saturday afternoon, a large family festival with information stands, a puzzle ralley and handicrafts for children will take place, which brings the young visitors closer to domestic nature.
science and sensitization
The results of the "Daily variety" are scientifically prepared and published in book form. These will be available in the Lainzer Tiergarten visitor center and in the office of the Wienerwald Biosphere Park or made available as a download. In order to also sensitize students to nature, half -day excursions are offered in the communities before the event.
For everyone who is interested in domestic nature, the “Biodiversity Day” offers a valuable opportunity to actively participate and to learn more about biodiversity in their region. Further information on this exciting event is available online at www.bpww.at .
