Nenzing in turmoil: Announcement meets the election of the mayor!
The turbulent political situation in Nenzing could soon end in front of the Constitutional Court. The top candidate of the SPÖ, Johannes Schallert, plans to scare the results of the municipal elections that took place last Sunday. The dispute revolves around controversial formal criteria for submitting declarations of support on the candidacy, as from vorarlberg.orf.at reported. Now the Court could decide whether the election would be completely canceled. In the meantime, there is a runoff election for the mayor's office, in which Michael Hartmann from "We for Nenzing" will compete against the FPÖ candidate Kornelia Spiß, since he lacked only a few votes for a direct election victory.
Intensity of military conflicts in Ukraine
In parallel to the political turbulence in Austria, the military conflicts in Ukraine tighten again. According to the current report of the Institute for the Study of War Russian troops have made considerable progress in the Kursk region after they have conquered several strategically important settlements, including Novaya Sorochina and Malaya Loknya. This situation is considered critical, since the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the northern area of the region could apparently lead to stabilizing the Russian front.
The connection between the latest military victories of the Russians and a suspension of American intelligence support for Ukraine shortly before is also emphasized. This suspension has a negative impact on the Ukrainian defense capacity, which significantly restricted the possibilities for coordination and offensive operations, which increases the risk of massive strategic setback.
