Declaration of love to Villach: New magazine celebrates the old town!

On May 1, 2025, the new magazine “Declaration of Love to Villach” was presented, which highlights the diversity of Villach’s old town with 98 pages. The magazine was developed by City Marketing Villach in cooperation with the Magneto CPA agency. This project aims to introduce the city's stories and customs and showcase the impressive photographs of the old town. How Click Carinthia reports, the launch of the magazine took place on April 24th and will be distributed free of charge in the city marketing office as well as at various partners and in the region.

The magazine's distribution also includes city shops, hotel rooms and even ÖBB promotions on trains to Villach. In addition, it is deployed at airports such as Trieste, Ljubljana and Klagenfurt. The release party attracted numerous guests from the areas of business, culture and politics. Pierre Bechler, managing director of city marketing, describes the magazine as an example of modern image advertising for Villach.

Villach’s old town – a meeting place

Villach aims to create a large living room in which everyone can feel comfortable. This vision is supported by targeted urban policies that rely on generous green spaces. Mobile avenues and green seating areas are part of this initiative to make the urban space inviting for both locals and visitors. How villach.at highlights, over 50,000 flowers are planted in spring to make the city center more lively. Villach also has the highest density of drinking fountains in Austria with over 60 fountains.

Another stated goal is to become the most bicycle-friendly municipality in Carinthia, which is supported by annual investments of up to one million euros in cycling infrastructure. Cycling is encouraged throughout the city center. Here, the pedestrian zone in the center and other areas can be used by bicycles and scooters at walking pace. The holistic approach to urban development is central to finding a balance between the needs of residents and the demands of growing tourist interest.

Tourism and urban development in harmony

The link between urban development and tourism is crucial for a city like Villach. This also emphasizes useyourplacethenstaywirthere.de, because tourism can not only provide economic stimulus and improve infrastructure, but also promote cultural exchange. At the same time, challenges associated with an increase in tourists must be overcome, such as the overload of resources or the possible displacement of local residents.

Well-planned urban development that takes social, ecological and economic aspects into account is therefore essential. With its initiatives and the new magazine, Villach shows that it wants to enhance its capital as a living space for locals and as a destination for tourists. Close cooperation between city planners, tourism managers and local actors is the key to shared success in urban development.
