Criminal assistant service celebrates one year: Chancellor Stocker visiting Wiener Neustadt!

2700 Wiener Neustadt, Burgplatz, Österreich - On June 10, 2025 at 9 a.m., the criminal assistant service (KAD) in Wiener Neustadt will celebrate one year. On this special occasion, Chancellor Christian Stocker and Interior Minister Gerhard Karner have announced themselves to attend the event. The venue is at Burgplatz in Wiener Neustadt, and media representatives are cordially invited. However, accreditation is required for participation, which can be requested via a specific link. Inquiries are directed to Ministerialrat Markus Haindl, reached by telephone number +43 (0) 1-531 29-90 1021 or by email to markus.haindl@bmi.gv.at . Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of the Interior ( bmi ).

The KAD plays a crucial role in the region's security policy. Their work complements the existing measures that are already established in the city and aim to strengthen the feeling of security of the population.

new police hotline for more security

An example of the efforts for more public security is the emergency call petrol installed in December 2022 directly in front of the main train station in Wiener Neustadt. This emergency column enables a direct connection to the police emergency call 133 and is available around the clock every day. A simple push of a button is enough to alert the police. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and Mayor Klaus Schneeberger emphasize the importance of such measures that are implemented as part of “safe” together. They are supposed to increase the subjective feeling of security of people in particular in highly frequented areas such as the train station.

The security strategy includes increased strip tours by the federal police, the ÖBB and security employees as well as other measures such as the integration of street workers and the acoustic sound system with classical music. The measures mentioned already show initial successes and are intended to further increase the security in the vicinity of the train station.

crime statistical developments

A comprehensive understanding of the security situation in Austria also requires the consideration of police crime statistics (PKS). These statistics record the development of criminal events and has been electronically registered for all cases indicated since 2001. The PKS is used for the strategic planning of criminal police measures and takes into account factors such as the display behavior of the population and the intensity of police controls. Despite its extensive importance, the PKS is an advertisement statistics that only the crimes reported by the police and sent to the courts records. Dark field crime and the outcome of court proceedings do not flow into this survey.

The PKS is also regularly adapted to new social challenges and legal changes. Annual security reports offer detailed insights into the criminal policy developments created by the ministries for the interior and judiciary. The last update status of this information was April 22, 2025 ( Federal Criminal Police Office ).
