A spectacular drug discovery shocked the rest stop in the Klagenfurt district on December 6, 2024. During a vehicle check, officers from the Villach motorway police station discovered over two kilograms of cocaine in the vehicle of a 33-year-old Serbian citizen. The driver, who was driving a German-registered car, was noticed by officers at around 10:20 a.m. because of contradictory statements about his destination. Due to his nervous behavior and inconsistencies with a plastic cover, the police decided to inspect the vehicle more thoroughly.
During the inspection, an experienced officer discovered an electronic fuse in the center console that concealed a hidden storage compartment. In this compartment they found two packages containing a white substance, which a rapid drug test identified as cocaine. In total, more than 2,000 grams of this illegal drug were seized.
