In the Carinthian Feldkirchen there is a contact point called Mylife, which offers young people in difficult life situations. This facility belongs to the Kraftwerk association and is a safe place where young people can talk about their worries in a protected setting. Mylife is particularly designed to work with young people who may have consumed drugs or drank alcohol without being condemned. Manuela Wresnik, head of mobile youth work, reports that the employees are always open to the youngsters.
The Mylife employees are active in the places where the young people are and are available for talking. Anonymity is an important principle in Mylife: the young people do not have to reveal their names, and the use of the services is free of charge. Nobody is obliged to make an appointment or bring something certain that the inhibition threshold lowers for many. The opening times are from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., which offers young people flexibility to come by.
The offer and the goals of Mylife
mylife not only offers young people a place to talk, but also opportunities for employment. There are special projects in which young people can learn new skills. A particularly successful project is the sound studio, which was opened in 2023 with the support of the Lions Club Feldkirchen Ossiacher See. Over 60 songs have already been created in this studio, which helps young people to express their feelings through music. Angelo Curutti, an employee of Mylife, praises the creativity and talent of young people and is often surprised by what they can achieve.
The meaning of warm meals is also highlighted on mylife. Many young people have no access to regular warm dishes, and cooking together is very much appreciated by the young people. This simple action not only ensures a nourishing meal, but also promotes the sense of community.
benefit concert to support mylife
In order to secure the work of Mylife in the long term, a benefit concert will take place in the parish church of Feldkirchen on November 8, 2024. The income of the concert, which is under the motto "From Baroque to Jazz", directly benefits Mylife. Well-known musicians appear at the event, including Rudi Gindlhumer and Claudia Kefer-Gindlhumer as well as Klaus Kuchling and Edgar Unterkircher. The tickets cost 18 euros, and after the concert there will be a reception in the rectory.
In addition, a caricature calendar by Franz Kraushofer is also offered at the reception, whose proceeds will also benefit mylife.
