Hackers captured secret data from over 60 US government officials!
A large-scale hacker attack on the Communication Service Telemessage, which was known to the US government at the beginning of May 2025. Mike Waltz, former US security consultant who used the platform, is affected. The incident shows clear security gaps and raises questions about data security within the government of Donald Trump. According to [vienna.at] (https://www.vienna.at/offenbar- Mehr- Mehr-Von-us-- Häck-als-Als-ALS-ALS-ALS-ALS-ALS-ALS-ALS-ALS-ALLS-ALS-ALLS-ALS-ALLS-ALSE, the intercepted information comes from an organization called Distributed Denial of Secrets and affect over 60 government representatives.
Telemessage enables the archiving of messages that come from trade fair services such as Signal. The data contains material from disaster helpers, customs officials, US diplomats as well as an employee of the White House and Relatives of the Secret Service. The period of the news recorded extends until May 4th. Reuters confirmed that some news from recipients were verified by FEMA and a financial service company. Nevertheless, many messages remained incomplete and not all content could be checked.
Details of the incident
The hacker attack was known by dealing with the Telemessage app, which was deactivated due to the incident on May 5 for security reasons. Many of the government officials concerned did not respond or referred to the competent authorities when asked by the media. While the Fema stated that there is no evidence of stolen information, the customs and border protection authority (CBP) confirmed that the incident must be examined.
Mike Waltz saw himself in criticism earlier after he accidentally invited a journalist to a signal chat group, which contained details about a US bombing in Yemen. After the hacker attack became known, Waltz cleared his post as a security consultant, which again fueled the debate about security protocols and dealing with sensitive information.
effects of cyber attacks
This incident is part of a larger trend that can be observed worldwide. According to the Konbriefing.com there have been a total of 115 documented cyber attacks, with 20 incidents at the top. Such attacks concern a variety of sectors, including public administration, healthcare and politics.
The more and more frequent attacks illustrate the need for increased cybersecurity. Companies and government institutions have to better protect their systems to prevent such data leaks. It is frightening that such hacker attacks can not only endanger individual organizations, but entire countries in their functional integrity.
