Wiener Neustadt, Österreich - On June 12, 2025, a dramatic apartment fire occurred in Wiener Neustadt, Flugfeld. The fire brigade had to move quickly after several emergency calls had been received in an apartment. The alarm level was raised to "B3 - building fire with several affected people" because flames hit a window on the second floor of an multi -party house.

Thanks to the rapid and effective use of the fire brigade, the fire spread on neighboring apartments could be prevented. Within a short time, the fire brigade was on site, which initially fought the fire from outside over a turntable ladder. This later made the internal attack easier, while the intensive fire development was quickly brought under control. The fire had already burned down a room and large parts of a gait and wet area.

During the extinguishing work, two firefighters were slightly injured when a gas pressure cartridge exploded. Fortunately, all affected residents, including a woman in a wheelchair, were brought to safety in good time. They were accommodated in a replacement quarters, while the police investigator took over the fire apartment. Despite the quick intervention, smoke damage was caused by the tilted window in an apartment above.

A total of around three dozen firefighters and nine vehicles were used. The emergency services were also on an increased willingness to alert, with several ambulances and the district operations manager of the Red Cross, which were on site to look after the injured. The slightly injured firefighters received emergency medical treatment on site and were released into domestic care.

On the same Saturday also in Vienna-Hernals, Thelemangasse, an explosion of a camping gas cartridge occurred in an apartment. Despite the dramatic situation, the apartment owner and his two children were able to bring themselves to safety in good time, as were a neighbor with her children. The explosion led to the collapse of a partition, but did not cause any fire development.

The fire brigade immediately entered action and closed the gas supply of both affected apartments. The control of the adjacent floors showed no further damage or injured persons. A subsequent alerted technical team also ensured that there was no acute risk of collapse.

A total of six people were cared for, but no hospital stays were required, and the investigation into the cause of the explosion is still underway.
