This incident was not the only fire in Wels recently. On January 28, 2025, a fire caused a sensation in a multi -party house. Here, a fire that has been registered as a small fire in the basement of the house quickly became a large -scale operation. The flames hit the staircase from the content, a burning couch, which was then heavily used up. As a result of this situation, the residents were temporarily locked up in their apartments until the fire brigade was able to localize and fight the fire. Nine people had to be cared for by the emergency services, with two people being brought to the Wels Clinic with suspected flue gas poisoning. Evacuation was also necessary here, and the power supply was restored, while B1 Wiener Straße had to be closed in both directions for around an hour and a half. causes of fire and statistics
The frequency of fires, both in Wels and in other regions, raises questions about the cause of the fire. According to Feuertrutz there is no comprehensive and uniform fire statistics in Germany that would make a precise analysis of the causes of fire and its dangers. Nevertheless, regular updates and the compilation of statistics could contribute to improving fire protection. International data and statistics from different countries reflect similar challenges. Improved prevention could cause similar incidents to be avoided in Wels in the future.
