Ceremonial opening: Modern care center Weitra for the future!
Weitra, Österreich - On June 6, 2025, the solemn opening of the modernized care and care center (PBZ) Weitra took place. This significant project was successfully completed with an investment of 4.5 million euros and emphasizes the importance of the care infrastructure in the region. State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister emphasized the importance of these investments for the future of nursing at the opening ceremony, with the aim of enabling older people to live a dignified life in a familiar environment.
The event attracted numerous guests, including representatives of the community, politics and the Lower Austrian state health agency. Andreas Reifschneider, managing director of Gesundheit Waldviertel GmbH, thanked everyone involved for their cooperation and the committed implementation of the project. Nursing director Mona Riegler and interim commercial director Roland Hofbauer also emphasized the successful cooperation that was necessary for the renovation. The conversion was realized with the support of the state of Lower Austria in order to sustainably improve the security of supply and quality of life of the population.

Since its foundation in 1993, the Weitra nursing and care center has played an important role in the region. The center, which was expanded in 2003, currently offers 110 care and care places in three large living areas. The new plans include the conversion into nine smaller residential groups, which should enable residents to live a self -determined life. These groups are designed in such a way that they support the everyday life of the seniors and promote a usual daily rhythm.
The architecture of the new facilities attaches great importance to community life and at the same time in privacy to increase the quality of life of the residents. These modern concepts are based on proven approaches from care that emphasize a personal-centered design of the residential and life situations in nursing homes. In addition to the aspects of quality of living, the care of people with dementia also plays a central role.
