Changan brings a breath of fresh air: expansion to 10 European countries by 2025!

Chongqing, China - On June 7, 2025, the Chongqing International Auto Exhibition was opened, where the Chinese company Changan Automobile presented its latest models and technologies. European media is particularly interested in the impressive production technology of the company, which was demonstrated both in the Intelligent Digital Factory and in the global research and development center. The Polish influencer Grzegorz Konieczny praised the high level of automation of the production line, while the Italian Vlogger Michele Ponte emphasized the comfort features of the vehicles on a test drive.

With a three -track strategy,

Changan has an expansionary destinations in Europe by the end of 2025. This includes a selective product strategy with a focus on models such as the Changan Deepal S07 and S05. The chairman of the company, ZHU Huarong, emphasized the respect that Changan brings towards the European market, and its importance as a central point for switching to electromobility. The company is planning an expansion to 10 European countries and the establishment of almost 200 trading locations until the end of 2025, starting with Norway.

European market expansion and models

The development of plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVS) is also promoted as part of this expansion. Li Mingcai, deputy chair of Changan, confirmed that the first PHEV models should be available on the European market in the third quarter of 2025. The long -term goal includes a comprehensive presence throughout Europe until 2028, supported by local production facilities and an intensive investment in research and development.

The strategy of Changan is entitled "In Europe, For Europe" and aims to operate the European market with a wide range of vehicles. By 2025, nine new models will be available under the Changan, Deepal and Avatr brands. While Changan focuses on mainstream family users, Deepal aims at a younger, technology-savvy audience, while Avatr is positioned as a premium brand for intelligent electric vehicles.

The challenges of European electromobility

The entry of the Chinese automobile manufacturers into the European market comes at a critical time, since the European Parliament in 2022 decided to ban new cars with an internal combustion engine from 2035. This measure is intended to support the climate neutrality by 2050, with the EU striving for a drastic reduction in emissions in the traffic sector, which is currently responsible for 60 % of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. Chinese manufacturers, such as Changan, develop a leading position in the market for electric vehicles through state support and an integrated chain of value.

During the market for electric vehicles in Europe, combustion engines are still dominating. It is estimated that the market share of battery -electric vehicles (BEVS) was only 13.5 %in 2023. In order to achieve the goals defined by the EU, BEVS sales would have to increase by 14 % annually.

Chinese manufacturers who have significantly reduced their production costs are faced with the challenge that their vehicles in Europe are 80 % to 100 % more expensive than in China. In order to compensate for this imbalance, European governments have introduced tariffs, while at the same time the price differences between traditional and Chinese electric vehicles have to be compensated.

In view of these factors, Changan has already signed sales agreements in Norway and plans to open 60 showrooms in the United Kingdom by the end of 2025. In addition, Kuehne + Nagel and Allianz Partners for Logistics, Insurance and Service Solutions have been collaborated to help ensure first-class customer service.

The next steps of Changan are clearly emerging: With strong focus on electrification and strategic market expansion, the company sees the future optimistic and wants to establish itself as one of the main actors in the European market. European media continues to be optimistic about the plans and the growth potential of Changan.
