Police training is booming: 85% more applications in Burgenland!

Eisenstadt, Österreich - In Burgenland, a wave of police applications attracts attention. According to orf.at this year 475 women and men applied for an apprenticeship for the police, which corresponds to an impressive increase of 85 percent compared to the previous year. The training of these applicants has already started the training. One reason for this development could be the reform of the sports test, which is now part of the training. This makes it possible to target individual weaknesses without applicants to fail at the first hurdle.

The increased demand for training positions forces the Burgenland police department to expand its training infrastructure. From May 2025, two training courses will take place on the premises of the Eisenstadt Chamber of Commerce. So far, courses had to be relocated to Lower Austria or Vienna in order to meet demand. This shows that the police not only focus on growth, but also on innovative strength to increase the number of future law enforcement officers.

changes in the selection process

also relevant for potential applicants are the new provisions in the admission procedure. According to police career.gv.at , the requirements for applicants are communicated more transparently, and the sports test is no longer carried out before the training. The measures are intended to ensure that more interested people have the chance to become part of the police, and reduce the earlier hurdles that many applicants shouted back. These reforms are a clear step towards a modern and adaptable police in Burgenland.
