Burgenland celebrates 60 years of brass music with Hits in Blech campaign!
The variety of brass music in Burgenland will be celebrated with a special program from June 16, 2025. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Burgenland Blasmusikverband (BBV) there is a unique action under the title "Hits in Blech". This initiative is launched by Radio Burgenland to present the creativity and commitment of the Burgenland music clubs.
A total of 22 music clubs will take part in the program campaign and play pieces from the genres "Austria", "Superoldies" and other favorite hits. The arrangements have been specially designed for brass music bands in order to address a wide audience. The participating associations and their selected “hits in sheet metal” are presented every day.
competition and audience voting
An exciting competition is also part of the campaign. From June 27, 2025, the listeners can vote for their favorite club on Burgenland.orf.at. The three music clubs with the most votes are invited to a "Radio Burgenland Frühschoppen" on July 13, 2025, which will be broadcast live in the Cultural and Congress Center (KUZ) in Eisenstadt.
A specialist jury also has the task of choosing the winner association and the second and third place places. The prices for the winners are extremely attractive: First place gets a day trip to the "Woodstock of Blasmusik" 2026 for the entire club, the second place is rewarded with a "Radio Burgenland Frühschoppen" live from the home community, and third place is given a professional admission of three pieces of music in the ORF state studio Burgenland.
anniversary and development of the BBV

The original goals of the BBV include the promotion of community and musical quality. The important milestones include the introduction of the Kapellmeister training and the annual brass music academy. In this anniversary year there are also numerous events on the program, including the 60th General Assembly of the BBV on April 5, 2025, which ends with a gala concert of Burgenland military music in the Raiding Lisztzentrum.
The initiative "Blasmusik Burgenland Digital 2025", which presents current recordings from the Burgenland brass music scene in the ORF Burgenland brass music parade, is also particularly noteworthy. This shows the efforts of the association to combine tradition and modernity and to actively involve the youth. In addition, numerous workshops take place as part of the further training, including topics such as rehearsal methodology, interpretations of the music of the original Egerland musicians and jazz phrasing in brass music.
