Anton Knoll jumps to the European Championship bronze-competition with heart and courage!
Austria's water jumper Anton Knoll recently achieved remarkable success at the European Championships in Antalya. On May 25, 2025, he won the bronze medal in tower jumping and was able to confirm his strong performance in the pre-fight. Knoll ended him as the best and started the final with a lot of confidence, but after five jumps he was initially in sixth place. With an impressive three and a half times Salto, he overtook three competitors and ultimately secured third place with an end points of 423.35 points. He saved the bronze medal with a lead of only 3.2 points in front of the fourth-placed jumper.
In competition, gold and silver went to Oleksij Sereda from Ukraine and the 17-year-old German Ole Johannes Rosler. Sereda won the gold medal with 468.65 points, while Rosler was able to cheer with 439.45 points over the silver medal. Knoll, who is 20 years old and comes from Vienna, now has two European Championship medals in his collection and was already in use at the Olympic Games. He expressed that he trusted the valuable work with his coach Aristide Brun and was proud of his achievements. Knoll describes his goal of making "horny jumps", which he ultimately also succeeded. Despite the success, he admits a "Post Olympic" blues, but sees the bronze medal as an incentive for the upcoming competitions, especially for the synchronous competition, in which he and his partner Dariush Lotfi will compete on Tuesday.
further success at the European Championships
The European jumping championships in water jumping show many other outstanding achievements. The German duo Lena Hentschel and Luis Avila Sanchez won gold on May 23rd in the mixed synchronized competition from the 3 m board with a total number of points of 289.74 points. They narrowly prevailed against the Italian team Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro, who took second place with 289.71 points. Third place went to the British Desharne Bent-Asheil and Ben Cutmore with 271.80 points. Hentschel, who is already Tokyo's Olympic bronze medalist, shows impressive performances and is also in the final of the 1 m board this Friday.
The competitions in Belek, which last until May 28, serve not only as a European season highlight, but also as an important preparation for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028. Almost every participant seems to be well equipped in the best form and for the upcoming World Championships in Singapore in July.
It will remain exciting for Knoll. In addition to the upcoming participation in the synchronization competition, it remains to be seen which other challenges and successes are imminent on his sporting path.
