Andrea Mattioli: New superintendent for Carinthia and East Tyrol!

On April 27, 2025, Andrea Mattioli was elected as the new superintendent for Carinthia and East Tyrol, and Peter Kaiser warmly congratulated her on this important task. He describes Mattioli as a committed and experienced personality that will play an important role for the Evangelical Church and the Society. Kaiser also thanked the outgoing superintendent Manfred Sauer for his long -term and meritorious work, who contributed significantly to strengthening the interreligious dialogue and social cohesion. He emphasized the foresight, openness and the continuous effort of Sauer for a harmonious coexistence. These valuable cornerstones will also be important under the new superintendent Mattioli.

Kaiser is convinced that Andrea Mattioli will hold up the values of cohesion, mutual respect and trusting conversation in challenging times and at the same time set new impulses. Her ability to build on Manfred Sauer's strong foundation gives hope for a positive development in the Evangelical Church of Carinthia.

Diversity of faith and interreligious dialogue

In order to promote the understanding of different beliefs, on May 24, 2025, a basic theological course under the title "Typical Evangelical" will be at the Evang. Parish of Villach Stadtpark offered. The course begins at 9:00 a.m. and is aimed at interested parties and employees in the church, communities and diakonia. This offer is intended to strengthen the theological judgment of the participants and provide orientation.

The content of the course includes topics such as secularization, fundamentalism, ecumenism and in particular the interreligious dialogue. The speakers include Mag.A Andrea Mattioli, who is now a superintendent, as well as Mag.A Ruth Niederwimmer, teacher of Protestant religious education. This course consists of six one -day seminars that are open to anyone interested. There are no prerequisites for church cooperation, denomination or training.

A look at the interreligious dialogue

In this context, the interreligious dialogue is of great importance and is treated as a central topic by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. There are different views of non -Christian religions within the Evangelical Church. Some represent the equivalence of all religions, while others take the view that non-Christians are lost. This shows how important a respectful exchange and understanding for other beliefs are.

Compared to the Catholic Church, which in the second Vatican Council had a clear position on non -Christian religions, the Evangelical Church did not give any official explanations on these topics for a long time. Since 2009, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria has been working on a concept for the point of view of non-Christian religions and in April 2016 has achieved an almost unanimous adoption of this concept by the state synod, which addresses relationships with non-Christian communities.

In summary, it can be stated that the choice of Andrea Mattioli and the upcoming educational offers for the diversity of faith will not only strengthen the Evangelical Church, but also to promote interreligious dialogue in Carinthia. These developments are of central importance for the social cohesion and the coexistence of various beliefs.
