25 years of the music: a festival of sounds in Vienna!
On June 17, 2025, the House of Music in Vienna. The innovative sound museum, which was opened on June 15, 2000, has captivated visitors since then and has opened the doors to discover the world of sounds. In order to celebrate this anniversary, special festivities took place from June 13th to 15th, 2025, where admission was free and about 2,000 visitors enjoyed the atmosphere on the festive days.
In his speech,Wien Holding Managing Director Kurt Gollowitzer underlined the important role of the house for the cultural sector in Vienna, while the director of the House of Music, Simon Posch, describes the museum as a lively place of musical discovery. The celebration started with a moving children's concert, "Classical Cool! - Mozart Kunterbunt", which took place on Friday at 4:00 p.m. For Saturday a sing-along musical "The Wizard of Oz" was set, followed by an official "birthday moment" with an anniversary cake.

The anniversary weekend also included a matinee of Ensemble Vienna on Sunday with members of the Vienna Philharmonic. In addition, the Vienna Philharmonic congratulated at the traditional summer night concert in Schönbrunn Schlosspark, which took place under the direction of Tugan Sokhiev. Solist Piotr Beczała performed and works by Offenbach, Bizet, Grieg, Grieg, Dvořák and Otto Nicolai, including an overture to Nicolais "The Funny Women from Windsor" as a birthday greeting.
The House of Music is not only a popular attraction for those interested in music, but also an interactive hotspot for music placement and cultural exchange. The most popular attractions include the musical staircase "StairPlay", the virtual conductor and sound installations such as "Sonotopia". To offer visitors even more, a redesign of the permanent exhibition on the third floor of the museum is planned. In addition, a new mural of the artist Max Rocks, which portrays Johann Strauss, was presented in the Haus der Musik. This work of art connects music with visual art and invites you to further discovery.
