Wild babies in need: crochet campaign for orphaned animal children started!
in the animal protection house Vösendorf, Mödling district, has resulted in a remarkable increase in donations and support from the community. Animal lovers from all over Austria are invited to collect crocheted nest for orphaned wildlife babies under the hashtag #nest heat donation. These small, loving shelter, which can be crocheted in different sizes from egg cup to 25 cm in diameter, offer the animals the necessary warmth and security to survive in the difficult transition period before professional care. "The wool nests are a simple and effective way to help the animals," explains Martin Aschauer from Tierschutz Austria (https://noe.orf.at/stories/3295257/). Anyone who has wool or likes to crochet can get involved.
Another important chapter in the animal protection house describes the eventful history of the 13 ehs, which were stopped by customs at the Vienna-Schwechat Airport at the beginning of the year. These species -protected animals were originally intended for breeding purposes, but the owner lacked the necessary papers. Now the remaining six monkeys, including two young animals named Mona and Lisa, move to a zoo in the Czech Republic. "We are glad that we were able to offer the animals a temporary accommodation at the beginning of this year," says Stephan Scheidl, head of the animal protection house. Seven monkeys had already moved to a zoo two months ago, while the family members stayed in Vösendorf to offer the little ones a stress -free environment until they were big enough for the trip (https://www.meinbezirk.at/schwechat/a-lokales/die-for-her-zoll-aeffchen-glauschen-glagen-das-tienschhaus-voesendorf_a6056028).
Such actions impressively show how important animal welfare and cooperation with the population are. The help comes in the form of nest, but also financial donations that enter into the animal protection house every day and underline people's commitment. "This shows us that people like to do something for a good cause," said Aschauer proudly. With over 3,000 parts and almost 500,000 calls, the fundraising campaign on social media has achieved a viral reach.
