Learning café on tour: Support for children in the region started!

Kärnten, Österreich - On March 3, the learning café on tour opened its gates in two communities. This initiative of Caritas is aimed at children and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 15 who need support in their homework, tests and school work. Targeted learning care is offered on four afternoons per week to help the children who often have difficulty. With a holistic approach, Caritas pursues the goal of promoting learning joy by using artistic and leisure pedagogical methods that are supervised to the students individually.

Caritas is still looking for committed employees for the mobile learning café. The website Klick-kaernten.de also reports on the interest of working in this important role. We are looking for both educational specialists and volunteers who would like to make a contribution. Working conditions are attractive and, in addition to payment according to the collective agreement for charitable employers, also include additional services such as flexible working hours and supervision. This event is aimed at educators and multipliers in child and youth welfare. The aim is to develop an appropriate attitude towards media use and to provide suggestions for constructive handling of digital media. The participants can reflect on their own setting and acquire valuable tools through practical methods in order to become active as multipliers.

A central element of this training is the short feature film "Lace Change", which deals with various aspects of excessive media use without giving a clear evaluation. There is also a practical method manual that helps specialists create your own offer for your target groups. The project is accompanied by an evaluation that will be carried out by the International University in 2023/2024 to check the implementation of the goals set.
