Innovative White Cubes: Linz celebrates new art worlds in the castle museum

Linz, Österreich - On March 25, 2025, the new exhibition rooms, the so -called White Cubes, were ceremoniously opened in the Linz Castle Museum. Governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) described these modern rooms as innovative exhibition and mediation concepts that combine technical excellence with artistic diversity. Over the next two years, the focus is on alternating exhibitions, which are to be integrated into the collection concept of the individual floors.

The redesign of the permanent exhibition currently includes the dismantling of the arcade in the second castle courtyard and a reorganization of the department for archeology, primary and early history. The personnel of Elmar Trenkwalder, which is curated by Genoveva Rückert, apply special attention. Trenkwalder shows an overall work in the White Cubes, which includes fifteen tall ceramic sculptures, installations and graphics.

variety of exhibitions

The Oölkg (Upper Austrian State Culture Society) supports the project to pay attention to outstanding Upper Austrian artists. In this context, the artist Elisabeth Plank, born in Wels, is also presented. Curator Gabriele Spindler introduces Plank with an early work and the latest “ponds” and “lyrics”. Plank, who lives in Linz and Vienna, deals with painting that does not contain narrative elements and examines basic picturesque principles.

Another highlight in the White Cubes is the exhibition "Vienna - Linz around 1900", which is curated by Michaela Seiser and Sabine Sobotka. This addresses the Fin de Siècle and the works of important artists such as Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. The regional artists Alfred Kubin, Klemens Brosch, Leopold Forstner and Franz Sedlacek are also noticed there.

exhibition organization and mediation

The organization of these exhibitions includes a wide range of services, such as art -historical processing, communication with artists and media as well as the training of guided tours. The exhibition organizers act as a central contact person and optimally network everyone involved. The joy of communication is proactively used to implement theory and practice in the exhibition rooms.

In the White Cubes, visitors can admire the following exhibitions:
