Designing the future: Climate Biennale Vienna 2026 promises exciting debates!
The anticipation for the second edition of the Klima Biennale Vienna is growing! After the overwhelming success of the first Biennale 2024, which attracted over 200,000 visitors to 25 exhibitions and around 660 events, the organization team is already in intensive preparations for the event in 2026. The next Biennale is certain: From 9 April to May 10, 2026
like biennale.wien reports, the city is again transformed into a platform for art, culture and dialogue around climate justice. The festival is organized in the Kunsthauswien and this time dispenses with an additional festival area. Instead, the focus is on the central event - the festival center - and close cooperation with partner initiatives in order to make the topics of the climate debate even more intensive and interactive. An innovation also affects the festival management: Claudius Schulze, who acted as a co-leader, withdraws and leaves the Sithara Pathirana directed. With the active support of the Kunsthauswien team, this wants to design a remarkable Biennale.
selected partner & event locations
The festival relies on a strong network that combines artistic and scientific perspectives. The Biennale is supported by several institutions and uses various venues in the city. A total of over 25 partner institutions are available to bring in their respective specialist areas and perspectives, whereby the variety of approaches should enrich the discussion about climate and art. The city of Vienna also shows commitment and promotes the event with 1.5 million euros from several business groups. This investment underlines the importance of art and science in dealing with the challenges of climate change, such as wien.gv.at
