Rostock celebrates creative free jump festival: stage for young talents!
On Thursday, October 18, 2024, an exciting cultural event begins in Rostock: the tenth Freity Festival. The event carrier is the Compagnie de Comédie, which specializes in offering young talents a platform for creative forms of expression. During the three -day festival, a total of seven pieces are presented, accompanied by workshops that are accessible to everyone.
A total of 22 theater work at the festival was looking for a place in the spotlight, a record for the event. "Young artists need freedom to develop their ideas without the main thing about financial aspects," explains Sandra-Uma Schmitz, the artistic director of the festival. A colorful program is offered, among other things with the figure theater piece "The Legend of Granny and Claude", which deals with aging and loss.
diverse program design
The program includes a mixture of different genres and topics that should address the audience. The drama "dive" promises an emotionally charged trip, while a new story by the Korean fairy tale "Brother Tiger" creates a fairytale atmosphere on Saturday. The piece "Stage insult", which critically deals with the theater itself, is particularly remarkable. The conclusion is the acting "Nachtland", in which a complicated family history and a painting by Adolf Hitler are in the center and raise moral conflicts. In addition to the performances, there are also workshops that deal with body language and similar topics.
The presentation of these articles is on stage 602 at the Rostock city harbor. Spectators can also book the performances via the box office, which enables spontaneous participation. This not only promotes access to theater art, but also invites the general public to experience the creative works.
The price "applause machine"
At the end of the festival, a jury from theater professionals will award the most outstanding staging with the "applause machine". This work of art was made by the artist Barbara Wetzel and is created every year especially for the festival. Schmitz emphasizes how important it is to keep the free jump festival varied and relevant. "Cultural education and discourse are essential to create diversity in our society. Without these elements, monotony threatens," she said.
The Freity Jump Festival not only offers a platform for talented young artists, but also contributes to the lively theater culture in Rostock. Every appearance and every idea that is presented helps to enrich the cultural landscape of the region.
