ORS Group: 20 years of innovation in streaming – anniversary in the MuseumsQuartier!

On June 25, 2025, the ORS Group celebrated its 20th anniversary with an impressive anniversary event in Vienna's MuseumsQuartier. Several hundred guests were present at this festive gathering, including high-ranking representatives from the media, politics, culture and business. [Leadersnet](https://www.leadersnet.at/news/90567,ors-group- Feierte-20-jahre-im-zeichen-der-digitalen.html) reports that the ORS Group has been active as an independent company since 2005 after being spun off from the ORF. The ORF currently holds 60 percent of the shares, while Medicur has 40 percent.

The core task of the ORS Group includes the provision of TV and radio via terrestrial, satellite and cable. The focus is increasingly on digitalization, as the demand for IP services and streaming solutions is constantly growing. The ORS Group has transformed itself in recent years and now offers its own TV platform called “simpliTV”, which has been on the market since 2013. In his remarks, Managing Director Michael Wagenhofer emphasized the importance of transmission technology and the transformation from analog to digital.

Growth through streaming and new partnerships

A crucial element in the company's recent history was the takeover of the Polish streaming specialist Insys Video Technologies last year. The acquisition of this company enables the ORS Group to enter international markets and specifically expand its streaming business. According to OTS, the ORS Group aims to rise from the national market leader to a global player in cloud streaming. The collaboration with Insys is intended to help open up new growth markets.

Another highlight of the anniversary celebration was the unveiling of the new brand identity “Big Blue Marble”, under which all streaming solutions and services are bundled. This brand development is intended to underline the innovative strength and progressive digitalization within the ORS Group. The company wants to diversify its portfolio and open up new business areas. Internal group sales of 119 million euros in 2023, an increase from 57 million euros in 2005, illustrate the upswing and the strong position in the market.

Technological innovations and challenges

The industry itself is undergoing profound change. According to XPLR-Media, streaming has revolutionized TV distribution and led to new business models. The evolutionary development in audiovisual broadcasting shows that recipients can now select content, something that was hardly possible a few years ago. Providers are faced with the challenge of using innovative technologies to survive in an increasingly fragmented market. ORS Group is not only a leader in the development of digital transmission standards, but also develops solutions such as 5G Broadcast, which can be particularly useful in crisis situations.

High-profile guests such as Vice Chancellor Andreas Babler and ORF General Director Roland Weißmann also had their say at the celebrations in the MuseumsQuartier. Interviews with those responsible and well-wishers were planned in cooperation with LEADERSNET.tv. The event documentation and photos of the event will be published soon to properly document the eventful history and significant milestone of the ORS Group.
