Nostalgia and excitement: Brüssow Skatturnier inspires players from Berlin!

A touch of nostalgia fulfilled the Stephanus Foundation in Brüssow when the traditional Skatturnier was revived after a ten-year break last weekend! The event, organized by the Kultur working group, attracted numerous card players from the region and ensured a happy cooperation.

The creative idea came from Petra Schulz, who not only wanted to give a pleasure for her physical well-being, but also to her father, the passionate skat player Eckhard Wittkopf. She received support from Olaf Weber from the Brüssow Carnival Association, which took over the organization and provided a smooth process. The Stephanus Foundation generously provided its premises at the lake, which offered the perfect setting for the exciting tournament.

Special guests from Berlin

A highlight of the tournament were the two skat players from Berlin who had traveled especially! Norman Glowe, the 2nd Mayor of Brüssow, enthusiastically reported on the two women who dueled with ten male teammates. In the end, Lothar Naeth was able to take the trophy and a prize money of 30 euros to Crimm after triumphant points with 1996. Despite a strong performance by Eckhard Wittkopf, who led after the first round, 72-year-old Naeth prevailed and secured victory.

Future plans of the working group

The Kultur working group is already planning new events for 2025! In addition to the popular park festival and the torchlight parade, a large Christmas tree burning will take place on the site of the open -air stage on January 11, 2025 to strengthen the sense of community in Brüssow. Further exciting information will be announced soon!
