In Mannheim, a 33-year-old pickpocket tried his luck in a particularly clumsy way on Friday the 13th. He visited a busy restaurant on the Alter Meßplatz to look for an opportunity to steal among the unsuspecting guests. Little did he know, he reached for banknotes that were in a wallet in the jacket pocket of a jacket hung over the back of a chair. What he didn't know: The Mannheim-Neckarstadt police station was celebrating its Christmas party in this restaurant. The room was therefore well filled with officers who reacted quickly when the crime was discovered and interrupted their celebration to arrest the thief Rheinpfalz reported.
The 33-year-old was not only arrested for theft, but also for resisting law enforcement officers because he resisted arrest.
