Customs campaign in South Hesse: Savings fraud and undeclared work in sight!

shocking revelations in the South Hessian freight forwarding, transport and logistics industry! On November 12, 2024, the financial control of undeclared work (FKS) of the Darmstadt main customs office carried out a huge action to put compliance with the minimum wage and social laws. Over 80 customs officers were on the road with full commitment at the Darmstadt, Hanau and Wiesbaden locations, supported by finance officers and the police.

The nationwide control of the FKS aimed to uncover suspicious employment relationships - and the results are alarming. In Darmstadt and Wiesbaden, companies were targeted, while control stations on the A66 motorway were set up in Hanau. Here, trucks were pulled out of the flowing traffic and their drivers asked open questions about the working conditions. "You don't always only meet harmless," remarked Angelika Hipp-Clemens, press spokeswoman for the main customs office. Among the respondents were actually found workers with a criminal background, including serious offenses such as robbery and murder. But this did not scare the customs officers.
