Wuppertal is reminiscent: Reading on the court history of the Bialystok process

A historical event will be celebrated on November 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Wuppertal police headquarters! The SAAL 300 will be the scene of a reading that looks back on one of the most shocking processes of the post -war period. In 1966, police officers from Wuppertal were on trial, who in 1941 murdered around 2,000 people in the Polish city of Bialystok occupied by the Wehrmacht in 1941. This terrible act is considered one of the first murder actions that was carried out by a police unit in World War II on its own - a shocking representation of abuse of power and cruelty!

This dramatic process, which kept the world public in suspense and which presented the perpetrators in front of a fair tribunal, has targeted the Rheinisch-Bergische Center for Police History in cooperation with the Alte Synagogue meeting place and the page page view. Under the title "History in Court: The Bialystok Process", the participants hear gripping readings by Julia Wolff and Gregor Henze, both known faces of the Ensemble Schauspiel Wuppertal. This event not only promises information, but also an urgent examination of the dark history of the police in Germany.
