Security first: Police controls e-scooters and bicycles in Bad Oldesloe!

In an urgent security check on Monday morning, November 11, 2024, the police continued their checks in Bad Oldesloe to ensure traffic safety on the streets. From 6:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., seven officials-including two trainees-have intensively checked the bicycle and e-scooter traffic in the urban area.

With a sharp view of the safety of road users, the police positioned themselves in Olivet Allee and in the pulsating inner city area. The darkness revealed an alarming number of road users who were traveling without functioning lighting, in particular children on bicycles noticed their lack of safety. In a comprehensive review, a total of 189 bicycles and e-scooters were examined, and the officials did not reject the eyes in front of the defects.

Significant defects uncovered

14 control reports were issued on bicycles for insufficient lighting technology. In addition, three administrative offenses had to be initiated when cyclists forbidden the pedestrian zone. A particularly critical point: one of the e-scooters was even without insurance! These controls illustrate the need to strengthen traffic safety and in particular to promote compliance with the regulations.
