Drama on the A24! On the evening of October 25, 2024, shortly before 10 p.m., a terrible traffic accident happened between the Suckow and Parchim junctions. A 59-year-old Polish man mysteriously lost control of his car and caravan trailer, which suddenly overturned and came to a stop across the road. The navigation future seemed to be failing and chaos was complete!
The nightmare began when a 61-year-old German driver of a small van following behind was no longer able to brake in time despite being vigilant. The collision with the unlit obstacle was unavoidable! Tragically, the 59-year-old could not be saved despite intensive attempts at resuscitation by first aiders and rescue workers and died at the scene of the accident. Another victim of that fateful evening, the driver of the van, was seriously injured but stable and transported to a nearby hospital by rescue helicopter.
Traffic chaos and total loss
The accident caused total traffic chaos on the A24. The three vehicles involved suffer a total economic loss amounting to a whopping 65,000 euros! In order to clear the rubble and dishes, the road was completely closed and traffic is being diverted to the Suckow junction. Significant traffic restrictions are expected until daybreak while the Ludwigslust Criminal Investigation Department takes over the investigation into the cause of the accident.
