Shock accident on A3: truck loses control and builds traffic!

Wiesbaden-A truck accident on Autobahn 3 caused considerable traffic disruptions in the early evening of October 2, 2024. The incident occurred around 5:48 p.m. in the direction of Würzburg, between the Wiesbaden motorway junction and the Raunheim junction. The situation could have gone worse, which was only avoided thanks to happy circumstances.

A 57-year-old Polish driver was on the right lane of the A3 with his tractor-trailer, which had a Polish approval. Suddenly the right front wheel burst, which led to a loss of control and a dangerous spin movement of the vehicle. The tractor-trailer drifted across all lanes and finally hit the concrete limitation on the left. There was a collision with a Ford Transit that a 72-year-old man from Frankfurt steered.

traffic disruptions through fallen cargo

In the accident, the tractor-trailer lost its load consisting of car vehicle parts. These parts fell onto the road between the two directional lanes and even partially protruded on oncoming traffic. Another car was damaged by the cargo, but fortunately it remained with these property damage, since despite the high traffic volume, no further vehicles were affected and nobody was injured.

An official of the motorway police was quickly on hand and was able to put the parts affected by the load back onto the road so that the traffic in the direction of Cologne was hardly affected. Nevertheless, the vehicles in the direction of travel to the south temporarily stood up to three kilometers.

To carry out the rescue of the damaged truck and the removal of the expired diesel, the middle and left lane had to be blocked in the long term. The rescue work is currently still ongoing and, according to preliminary information, should be completed on October 3, 2024 at around 1 a.m.

The estimated property damage amounts to around 40,000 euros without the costs for the salvage itself. A review of the remaining tires of the saddle train showed no abnormalities, which is why it is more likely that the accident was caused by the transfer of an object.

Details about this incident will continue to be observed and further information can be expected. A more precise analysis of this accident and its effects on the traffic situation can readers in a report at www.presseportal.de
