On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the tires and the nerves on Saarlandstrasse shook when a serious traffic accident happened around 10:25 a.m. In the direction of Rheingönheimer Straße, three vehicles stopped at a red light. But what happened then nobody could have predicted! The driver of a fourth car wanted to brake, but confused the brake pedal with the accelerator pedal in a dramatic moment and slammed on the holding vehicle with full force. The chain reaction could not be stopped: the battered car came across the next and it was pushed onto the car in front of it!

The result of this terrible rear -end collision? Fortunately, several people only suffered minor injuries, but the material damage is alarming! The total damage amounts to an impressive 90,000 euros. Three of the four cars involved are no longer ready to drive and had to be towed. In order to enable the cleanup and accident recording, Saarlandstraße was closed from Pestalozzistraße to the “Südwest-Stadion” stop. A horror scenario in the otherwise quiet Ludwigshafen!
