Raid in Elmshorn: Authorities fight against illegal gambling!

Elmshorn shaken by illegal gambling practices! Late on Saturday evening, November 16th, 2024, the city was the focus of a large-scale inspection. The Elmshorn public order office took action and received support from the state police and the Itzehoe main customs office. Together, 7 city employees, 22 customs officers and around 90 police officers set out to search several restaurants and combat illegal gambling. This exciting event occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. and revealed frightening conditions in the city!

First assessment: Not only were numerous administrative offenses identified in various companies, but evidence of criminal activity in connection with banned slot machines was also discovered! The responsible public prosecutor's office in Schleswig-Holstein reacted immediately and initiated investigations against the perpetrators, supported by the newly founded coordination and investigation unit to combat organized crime.

Raid shows dimensions!

The results of the searches are alarming: around 20 illegal slot machines and numerous other pieces of evidence were seized in 8 different properties. The emergency services also discovered slot machines that violated legal regulations and the owners will soon have to answer in court! There were also disturbing violations: poor fire protection, inadequately marked emergency exits and illegal serving of alcohol. The chaos culminated in the seizure of small quantities of narcotics in one of the restaurants checked.

However, the raid did not end without further ado: cash in the low five-figure euro range was seized in an adjacent apartment and in the premises - a slap in the face for the law enforcement officers for the illegal operators!
