In Heiligenhaus the fines are flashing! On Monday, November 18, 2024, the police carried out unannounced speed checks on the dreaded Langenriegeler Straße. The result is shocking: a total of 103 speeders were caught within just five hours! Of 919 vehicles passing by, around 11 percent were traveling at a dangerous speed instead of the permitted 50 km/h. The speed offenders have clearly ignored the traffic regulations and now have to expect severe penalties.

The infamous “fastest of the day” was a VW driver with a foreign license plate. He raced past the controlling point at a breathtaking speed of 92 km/h. After deducting the tolerances, he is still 39 km/h too much - an infringement that will now cost him dearly with a fine of at least 200 euros and one point in Flensburg. The police are unimpressed and emphasize that such speeding is commonplace and is one of the most common causes of accidents.

New police strategy

The Mettmann district police authority has significantly changed its control strategy. Instead of as previously announced, officials are now relying on unexpected checks to increase the pressure on speeding. The message is clear: If you drive too fast, you have to face consequences! The police will regularly publish the results of these checks and warn: Daily speed measurements can be expected throughout the district. The warning to all road users remains unmistakable: stick to the speed rules!
