A 24-year-old is in custody after he is suspected of brutally injuring a 56-year-old with a sharp object on Kirchheimer Strasse on Friday afternoon - with such devastating consequences that the victim died a short time later. The horrifying details that shed stark light on a day of violent confrontation are causing horror in the region. It was around 12:30 p.m. when the two men got into a heated argument for reasons that are still unclear.

Escape and arrest

The suspected perpetrator, an Afghan national, initially fled towards Notzingen/Wernau, but the police did not give up and immediately launched extensive searches. The suspect was eventually caught and temporarily arrested. Apparently there was no connection between him and the injured party before the incident. The investigators are now faced with the challenge of clarifying the exact sequence of events and the motives behind the cruel attack.

The Stuttgart public prosecutor's office quickly submitted an application for an arrest warrant, which was approved by a judge at the Stuttgart district court on Saturday afternoon. The 24-year-old was taken to a correctional facility while a special task force with 36 detectives is working on the case.
