A dramatic incident shook the streets of Oberhausen in the late Tuesday afternoon (October 29th): A pedestrian was hit by a VW driver when crossing the Schwartzstrasse! The 27-year-old driver was traveling to Mülheimer Strasse around 5:30 p.m. when the terrible collision happened. The pedestrian crossing between Henri-Dunant-Weg and Elsa-Brandström-Straße became the scene of a tragic accident. The reason? Darkness and slippery lane, which apparently prevented the driver from perceiving the 40-year-old passerby.
The injured had to be treated on site immediately and then taken to the hospital. A shock for everyone involved! The Oberhausen police warn: In the dark season, all road users have to make more effort in order to remain safe. "Wet and slippery roads, rain and the early darkness increase the risk of pedestrians and cyclists," said the police. A call to caution - not just for drivers!
