Burglaries in Edeka: Police are looking for witnesses for tobacco forties in Winsen and Bergen

In the past few days, the region around Bergen and Winsen/Allen has occurred to several burglaries to Edeka markets, which the local authorities have on alert. Already on October 12, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., unknown perpetrators violently entered the Edeka market in the Roggenkamp in Winsen/All. They stole a considerable amount of tobacco products and fled in a dark car that grind away at high speed towards Oldau. So far there is no reliable information on the amount of damage.

Just two days later, on October 14, 2024, a similar incident occurred in the Edeka market on Harburger Strasse in Bergen. Here, too, several unknown perpetrators gained access and stole tobacco products. Witnesses reported that the perpetrators fled in an Audi. The police suspect a possible connection between the two burglaries.

Investigations and witness call

The Celle police are currently investigating in both cases and has called on potential witnesses for help. In particular, indications of suspicious observations, the escape vehicles and the escape direction are important. Events raise questions, in particular regarding security in the region, which has been affected by similar incidents in recent years. The investigators hope to find out the perpetrators with information from the population.

"We ask everyone who has observed something to get in touch with us," said a spokesman for the police. Information is accepted directly to the Celle police inspection. The contact details are as follows: Jägerstraße 1, 29221 Celle, phone: 05141 / 277-0. The participants are reminiscent of the fact that everyone could be decisive.

The incidents are not only criminal, but also show the growing uncertainty among the population with regard to burglary theft that have increased in many regions in recent years. A deeper analysis of regional crime statistics could provide revealing information about whether these incidents are part of a larger trend.

The actions also raise questions about security in shops, especially in times when many people are active in this industry. The Edeka markets have already discussed measures to improve security to prevent such incidents in the future.

Appropriate reports and information from the police as well as in the media are to be expected for a detailed view of the case and possible developments. While the investigation continues, it remains to be seen whether the perpetrators are caught and what this means for future security measures in the region.

The previous burglaries in Winsen/Aller and Bergen make it clear that community vigilance is required. Citizens are asked to pay attention to their surroundings and to report potentially suspicious at all times to increase security in their cities. Further information on the incidents and potential security measures could be certified in the next few days.
