E-scooters and wallets: Crime in SZ-Bad is increasing by leaps and bounds!

In the past week, several incidents occurred in Salzgitter-Bad that attracted the attention of the police. A particularly notable incident was the control of a 21-year-old man who was riding an e-scooter without insurance. On Saturday, October 5, 2024, he was stopped on Vogelwinkel Street at around 10:44 a.m. The officers discovered that the e-scooter was not insured. This led to criminal proceedings being initiated due to the violation of the Compulsory Insurance Act. The 21-year-old was then banned from continuing his journey.

Surprisingly, just eleven minutes later, the man was caught again on the e-scooter, this time on Petershagener Straße. Despite the previous order, the officers continued the process and confiscated the e-scooter to prevent further violations.

Theft incidents in a food market

The situation escalated further when a 74-year-old woman was the victim of pickpocketing in a supermarket at 4:12 p.m. on the same day. While she was distracted by a male perpetrator, another male accomplice stole her wallet from her handbag. The perpetrators fled in an unknown direction and the wallet contained around 40 euros in cash. Despite vague descriptions of the perpetrators, their identity remains unknown.

This series of incidents shows the increasing crime in Salzgitter-Bad and the ongoing problem of driving without insurance in public spaces. The police have once again emphasized their vigilance and are calling on citizens to be safe, both on the roads and when handling personal valuables.
