Drama at the elementary school in Neuenkirchen: On Tuesday afternoon, October 22nd, 2024, a small fire broke out in the roof area of the school at around 3:30 p.m. A 55-year-old roofer who was doing repair work unfortunately started the fire and tried to put it out himself. He suffered minor burns and had to be taken to hospital.
The fire department had luck on its side – the fire did not spread and the property damage remained minimal. However, some residents around the school and children from the neighboring gym had to be temporarily evacuated outside while the extinguishing work was underway. The situation was tense, but the operation went smoothly.
School operations affected
Due to the necessary clean-up work, school operations will be moved to the nearby village community center on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. It remains to be seen how quickly the situation will normalize and the primary school can return to regular operations.
