Rail traffic in Planegg paralyzed: drunk man blocks tracks
Munich – Chaos at Planegg train station! An alcoholic 33-year-old grabbed the spotlight for indiscipline on Friday afternoon when he decided to stand directly in front of an incoming S-Bahn and thus bring all rail traffic to a standstill. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. and caused massive delays in long-distance, regional and S-Bahn traffic.
The 33-year-old, originally from the Russian Federation, showed no insight despite repeated requests from railway employees. Instead of moving out of the way, he stubbornly lingered and blocked the track area on platform 1. Alarmed security forces had to react and close the tracks to S-Bahn and long-distance traffic, which led to real traffic chaos.
Disturbances and consequences
The extensive disruption lasted around 15 minutes before the man was finally able to get off the tracks again. The federal police were quickly on the scene and arrested the conspicuous man a short time later near the train station. Initial investigations revealed that the Russian was not only under the influence of alcohol (breath alcohol level of 1.68 per mille), but had also often provoked police operations in the past through his unusual behavior.
After the police measures were completed, he was taken to the office on Denisstrasse in Munich, where he was released. Nevertheless, he now has to justify himself for being on the track area without permission. Deutsche Bahn has announced that it may be able to claim compensation for the operational disruptions that have occurred. Another example of how one careless moment can disrupt the lives of thousands of commuters!
