An important anniversary is just around the corner! On November 14, 2024, Schleswig-Holstein celebrates the 50th anniversary of its special units of the state police in a festive act that takes place in the large auditorium of the University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Service in Altenholz. The beginnings of these highly specialized troops go back to the hostage -taking during the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, which revealed the need for such units in Germany.
The first mobile operational command (MEK) was founded in 1974 in Schleswig-Holstein, followed by the renowned special command (SEK). Since then, these units have established themselves as an indispensable part of the country's security structure and have been trained for the processing of challenging operating sites such as terrorist attacks, hostages and kidnappings.Invitation to media reporting
The cargo to the media representatives is clear: be there when Interior Minister Dr. Sabine Sütterlin-Waack, the deputy LKA director Rolf Peter Ott and the head of the special units, Torsten Schramm, have their say. But be careful: Registration for the event should be made by November 13, 2024, 12 p.m. Access rights are strictly required and photography and filming during the ceremony are prohibited.
