On March 30, 2025, the ski jumping season came to an end with a spectacular event. The Carinthian jumper Domen Prevc set a new world record, surpassing the previous record with a remarkable jump of 254.5 meters. This performance caused enthusiasm among the fans and marked a crowning conclusion to the season. Prevc and other athletes showed great performances, with Michael Hayböck, who went down in history that day as the Austrian ski jumping star.
In this challenging competition also scored Jan Hörl his personal best distance of 242.5 meters and thus secured second place overall in the World Cup. Career of Michael Hayböck
The 34-year-old Hayböck, who was born in Linz on March 5, 1991, has achieved numerous successes in ski jumping. With his five World Cup victories and the personal record of 245.5 meters, which he set in Planica on December 11, 2020, he is one of the leading jumpers in his country. He made his World Cup debut on January 3, 2010 and since then he has continued to develop, including in team competition, where he celebrated 12 team World Cup victories.
He ended his career after a successful career in which he won a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and several medals at the Nordic World Championships. Most recently, he achieved a silver place in the mixed team at the 2017 World Championships in Lahti and ended last season as an active jumper.
Successes in ski jumping
Hayböck's list of successes is impressive. In addition to his Olympic silver medal, he also has three silver medals and one bronze at the World Championships. He successfully took part in the 2014/15 Four Hills Tournament and took second place.
