LKH Wolfsberg: New era with 55 million euros for modern health care!
Wolfsberg, Österreich - On April 11, 2025, the official commissioning of the third construction stage on State Hospital in Carinthia, Austria. The comprehensive modernization work that has been carried out since 2013 cost a total of 55 million euros, whereby 38 million euros alone flowed into the latest construction trend level.
A central element of the new infrastructure is the central outpatient first supply (ZAE), which together the accident outpatient clinic and emergency admission. Patients benefit from a covered rescue access to the ZAE and shock space, supplemented by short-term parking spaces and a separate input for infectious cases.

The redesigned building houses an institute for radiology as well as a new dialysis department with single berths and a larger therapy room. A central registration has also been created. The ecological orientation of the project was particularly mentioned: construction level 3 met the highest environmental standards and was awarded "Climate Aktiv Gold".
The end of this construction phase also marks the start of the fourth construction phase, which provides for a modernization of the bed stations for internal medicine, trauma surgery and surgery. In this phase, 60,000 working hours and 13,500 meters of new lines and 150,000 meters of electrical cables have already been implemented. This confirms the continuous development and adaptation of the state hospital in order to meet the requirements of a modern health system.
The health councilor Beate Prettner underlined the importance of health care in Carinthia and emphasized the progress of the LKH Wolfsberg as an example of innovative developments in the health sector. In addition to the structural advances, the cooperation of all those responsible for medical and nursing care is crucial. This responsibility lies with the federal government, the states, municipalities and the social insurance, which together decide on the Austrian structural plan for health (ÖSG) in order to determine planning statements, quality criteria and a large device plan. The further development of the health system in Austria is sought by the ÖSG, as is explained on health association .
With these measures, the aim is not only to improve medical care in Carinthia, but also to make future -proof, and to keep an eye on the entire needs of the population.
