Mallersdorf Clinic opens modern extension for patient care

The Mallersdorf Clinic inaugurated its new extension last Saturday, which is an important investment in the future of patient care. The Bavarian Minister of State for Health, Care and Prevention, Judith Gerlach, was also present at a ceremonial opening. In the course of this project, three modern operating rooms, a recovery room, a preparation station for medical devices and a larger intensive care unit were created. These new facilities have been in operation since September.

District Administrator Josef Laumer described the opening as a "beautiful event" in a challenging time for smaller clinics. With the new building, one is well equipped for the future and thanks to the foresight of the Free State, the clinic could continue to be of great importance for the region. From a total of over 30 million euros of construction costs, the district has made a share of more than ten million euros - according to Laumer, an investment that benefits people on site. "The patients need care close to home," he said.

Important support for the region

The Mallersdorf Clinic receives a security surcharge, which is due to its unique geographical location because it is far from other clinics. Another significant step in the development of the clinic was the establishment of a new vocational school for nursing professions that opened in September. This addition should not only meet the spatial, but also the personnel needs, as Laumer reported.

Minister of State Gerlach praised the great commitment that flowed into the extension and emphasized the importance of small clinics in rural areas. "Not only the big centers are important, but also the small clinics that guarantee health care on site," she said, pointing out that the Free State supported the project with more than 20 million euros.

"When it comes to hospital reform, it is important to support these facilities," said Gerlach, contradicting the assumption that smaller clinics automatically offer lower care quality. The new building is a significant improvement for nationwide medical care in the region and sleek processes for hospital staff.

Robert Betz, board member of the Bogen-Mallersdorf district clinics, thanked the participants for the implementation of the project, which was also possible thanks to the cooperation of the district and the Free State. The services of the construction and medical technology manager and the administrative manager, who had "devoted" to the conversion, were particularly appreciated, as if it were their own building.

The importance of the project for the municipality was also underlined by those presented by the architectural company Felix + Jonas. After an intensive planning and construction period of a total of five and a half years, the extension was realized with a large deployment of resources and specialist knowledge. 16,000 cubic meters of soil were moved and tons of concrete were used, with the will of those involved being decisive for the successful completion.

The blessing of the new building by Father Michael Raj and Pastor Jörg Gemkow, which took place after the official handover of the keys by Ulrich Jonas, gave the inauguration a festive setting. They all called to remember that the place is central to both life and health and that hope and healing are often at stake. They wished their blessing to the clinic: "May you fulfill your tasks with love, strength and caution".

These developments illustrate how important it is to capture the quality of health care in a time of reforms. The Mallersdorf Clinic not only secured its position through the new building, but can also respond to all the needs of its patients in the future.
