Viennese dance quarters starts with a sensual garden in new season!

On September 14, 2025, the autumn program 2025/26 was presented in the Vienna dance district. The new management under Isabel Lewis and Rio Rutzinger relies on innovative approaches to get people moving and reaching a wide audience. The opening of the new season will take place on October 3 and 4 in Halle G and promises to become a unique experience with the "Garden of Senses" concept. At this event, local and international dancers come together to offer a multimedia experience that is supported by the odor researcher Sissel Tolaas and cook Steffi Parlow.

The "Garden of the Senses" creates dance and culinary art in a creative way and, among other things, brings in the dancers Sabina Holzer and Doris Uhlich. The Open House, which continues until October 11th, offers a variety of program items, including performances, artistic aperitifs and readings, with over 30 artists who are involved in the opening week.

Diverse program items and social relevance

The incoming season 2025/26 focuses on hospitality, encounter and exchange. Rio Rutzinger emphasizes the importance of classes and workshops in order to open up ways to discover themselves and exchange. Isabel Lewis underlines that dance and performance are now central elements of contemporary art that promote dialogue with the audience.

In addition, the coming season will be shaped by three program columns: performances, research and workshops that are linked together and enable continuous exchange. Cultural City Councilor Veronica Kaup-Hasler emphasizes the social importance of the dance district, especially in times of social division and violence.

A look at the highlights of the season

A highlight of the autumn season will be the new production of the performance "Figures on a field" by Dean Moss, which is performed 20 years after its premiere in New York in Vienna. In addition, world premieres and Austrian initials from well -known artists such as Claudia Bosse and Ligia Lewis are planned. Workshops also offer the participants the opportunity to actively participate, which emphasizes the function of the dance studio as a place of support and inspiration.

The performances integrate different art forms, go beyond the traditional borders and create an interactive space that includes the audience in the creation of the work of art. The dynamics and emotionality of performance art enable the audience to become part of the creative process and to deal with current social, political and cultural issues. At the same time, this promotes accessibility and inclusion in art.

With an opening time from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., the dance district is a place where art and community come together. The opening week and the entire season are aimed at everyone who wants to explore the importance of art in today's society. Entry to all events during the season opening is free, which further promotes access to art. Further information can be found on the website of the dance district at tqw.at.

For those who are interested in performance art, the upcoming season shows how this dynamic medium has now become a central element in the contemporary art scene. Performance art crosses traditional borders and offers an interactive experience that includes both artists and the audience and enables reflections on current social issues, such as the relevance and influence of art on our life and our community.
