Vienna Health Prize 2025: Attention journalists!
The Vienna Health Promotion – WiG has once again announced the Vienna Health Prize, which this year is dedicated to the important topic of “Healthy Aging”. The prize includes three media prizes that are awarded to outstanding journalistic contributions that deal with the health promotion of older people. This was emphasized by Peter Hacker, City Councilor for Social Affairs, Health and Sport, and Dennis Beck, Managing Director of Vienna Health Promotion - WiG, and noted how important it is to support shaping the quality of life in old age, as life expectancy in society is constantly increasing. The submitted works should have been published in Austrian print or online media between January 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025 and should relate to the period after working life.
Categories and prices
The Vienna Health Prize is not only awarded for journalistic work, but also in various categories, including “Healthy in Grätzel and District” and “Healthy in Facilities/Organizations”. These categories honor projects that have a direct impact on the health of the Viennese population, be it in their living environment or in health facilities such as schools and retirement homes. The winners in the categories receive 2,000 euros, while the second and third place winners receive 1,500 euros and 1,000 euros, respectively. Particularly noteworthy are the three media prizes, each worth 500 euros, which are awarded as part of the prize. The ceremonial award ceremony will take place on September 16, 2025 in Vienna City Hall following the Vienna Health Promotion Conference, as information from WiG and other bodies confirm.
