The aim is to get back to the situation in front of Corona after the restrictions through the Covid 19 pandemic. Vienna is considered the most livable city in the world and not only strives for growth in tourism, but also attaches great importance to sustainability and high satisfaction for both visitors: inside and residents: inside. The adaptation of the strategy takes into account economic, political and social changes as well as technological progress.
A central goal of Visitor Economy Strategy 2025 is the actual design of the city to maintain and increase its value. To achieve this, a balance between the needs of the visitors: Inside and the residents: encouraged inside. The aim is to create added value for companies and the city. Success is measured using target indicators such as overnight sales and value creation effects. The satisfaction of the inhabitants is: Inside on the quality of experience of the guests.
fields of action and basic values
The Visitor Economy strategy names three central fields of action:
- Place Making & Place Marketing: Creation of new attractions in the city.
- Meeting Destination Vienna: Strengthening the Congress and Business Events Industry.
- Smart Solutions: Sustainable handling of natural resources and development of smart solutions.
The basic values of this strategy are premium, cosmopolitan and digital. Observing high quality, cosmopolitanism and the use of innovation and modern technology. The strategy was developed in the dialogue with various players: inside, including the city administration and representatives of the tourism industry.
sustainability in tourism
A central element of the Visitor Economy is the focus on sustainable tourism. This aims not to burden the natural areas and at the same time to promote economic and social justice. Sustainability in tourism takes into account the environment, business and society. Measures such as the promotion of climate -friendly transport, the choice of sustainable accommodation and the support of the local economy are in the foreground.
In order to avoid the negative effects of mass tourism, for example by avoiding large hotel complexes, travel providers such as Renatour and Vikings Reisen are created sustainable holiday offers. The development of smart solutions is just as crucial as the respectful integration of the culture of the destination. Overall, the Visitor Economy should not only contribute to the quality of life in Vienna, but also to protect the environment and enable intercultural exchange.
