Over 100 prisoners in Hesse celebrate Christmas in freedom!

Wiesbaden, Deutschland - The holidays are just around the corner in Hesse, and the Ministry of Justice has announced early dismissal for 104 prisoners who can leave prison before Christmas. This decision is based on the relief of mercy, which enables men and women who should serve their punishment until January 1, 2025. Justice Minister Christian Heinz (CDU) said that being with the family during this time was a significant step towards re -socialization. "Christmas with the family can be the first important step towards re -socialization," he said. This step should offer the detainees the opportunity to take care of support offers and to do important authorities before returning to society.

Compared to the previous year, an increase is evident: in 2023 only 93 prisoners benefited from this regulation until mid -December. However, the relief of mercy does not apply to everyone. Above all, sexual and violent perpetrators as well as criminals who noticed negatively during their detention or serve longer prison terms are excluded. This measure is intended to ensure that the Christmas amnesty will benefit those who have behaved positively in custody and are ready to start a new phase of life, such as fr.de and n-tv.de reported.
