Revolution in violence: New technologies for a safe future!

In the fight against the recurring acts of violence, the scientific community urges for a fundamental review of existing violence prevention programs. According to a press release from OTS Again and again presented new programs to combat violence, but they do not match our current understanding and scientific findings. The call for a transformation of thinking and an opening for innovative peace technologies is loud, since the previous strategies-which are only based on an increase in surveillance and legal punishments-obviously are not sufficient to prevent violence.

Scientific knowledge demands change

The responsible persons in society have to deal intensively with new concepts, which could potentially be more effective. It is emphasized that a profound transformation is only possible through a revolution in thinking. This is also supported by the Forum Criminal Prevention where the urgency of rethinking in violence prevention is highlighted. Current practice is often based on fighting the symptoms of violence instead of tackling the causes.

The urgency of a revision of existing concepts is evident in the confusing situation that despite many years of efforts, the number of acts of violence could not be significantly reduced. The call for examining new approaches such as peace technologies could be an opportunity to finally break through the spiral of violence and find new, sustainable solutions.
