Austria mourns around Josef Taus: a life full of ups and downs

Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - Austria mourns the loss of a formative personality! Josef Taus, the former federal chairman of the ÖVP and important industrialists, died at the age of 91. His political career lies from 1975 to 1979, in which he headed the People's Party and thus had a lasting impact on Austrian politics. Karl Mahrer, state party chairman of the Vienna People's Party, commented on the loss and said: "Josef Taus was a great Austrian whose work was highly valued far beyond the party borders." Mahrer also emphasized that Tauss left lasting traces due to his engagements in industry, especially with Management Trust Holding (MTH). His life's performance made him a role model for many generations, Mahrer continued. The Vienna People's Party reported this in its official announcement.

a life full of challenges and success

Josef Taus, born in 1933, began his career from modest conditions. He grew up in a small apartment in the 3rd district of Vienna and showed his talent early on. After completing the elementary school, he attended the Realgymnasium and studied legal and state sciences. He started his professional career as an economic editor and then worked in various areas until he entered politics. As State Secretary and later as a ÖVP MP, he advised fellow campaigners on economic policy issues and was quickly recommended for higher offices. However, he failed both in 1975 and in 1979 to defeat the legendary Chancellor Bruno Kreisky. Despite these defeats in politics, he found its place in business and built up considerable success with the MTH, as the Kurier reported.

In the period after his political career,

TAUS was fitting by renovating numerous companies and achieving significant economic successes through its society. These turning points in his career and the general respect, which he enjoyed both in politics and in business, make his death a great loss for the country. The KURIER described his life as dazzling and multifaceted, shaped by challenges, failed political ambitions and impressive economic successes.
