New in Vienna: Violently affected people find help to the new examination office!
A new contact point for those affected by violence is now being set up in Vienna: the examination agency for those affected by violence at the Medical University of Vienna has opened its doors. This is followed by the opening of the violence in Graz and represents another, significant step in order to create security and help offers for people who have experienced violence in Austria. The new facility offers a free examination in a protected environment in which injuries can be documented and evidence of possible legal proceedings can be secured. This important measure is part of the efforts to build a network of such facilities nationwide, such as the OTS reported.
The examination agency, which opened on January 2, 2025, has its location at Zimmermannplatz 1 in Vienna. There, reports on injuries, including photo documentation, created and traces are secured according to violence. An important note for those affected: Before each examination, contacting telephone is required at the number 01 40 160 357 00. Employees are also available via email at ugb@meduniwien.ac.at: inside, whereby in acute situations it is recommended to contact them by telephone. However, treatments themselves are not carried out in this facility, which must be observed, such as the MedUni Vienna
To celebrate the opening properly, a film and photo shoot with high-ranking interlocutors will take place on January 8, 2025 at 1:30 p.m., including Johannes Rauch, the Federal Minister for Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, as well as Markus Müller, the Rector of MedUni Vienna. This shows the high relevance that this new institution has for society to create a safer space for people who have experienced violence.
