IT specialist shortage in Vienna: Opportunities for Gen Z in the digital age!
The discussion about the acute lack of IT specialists in Vienna is getting louder: According to Rüdiger Linhart, the chairman of the professional group IT of the Ubit Vienna specialist group, the IT apprentices currently trained in Vienna cover just 15 percent of the current need for specialists. This means that an estimated 28,000 IT professionals in Austria are missing in Austria, of which almost 6,000 are eliminated in Vienna. In view of these alarming numbers, it is urgently required that interest in the IT industry is awakened at an early stage. The Ubit Vienna therefore starts the "Design your future" campaign to address potential IT talents and to inform about the diverse possibilities in the industry, both with regard to personal and financial development, such as WKO emphasized.
These developments are essential for the Viennese economic landscape, since the Ubit Vienna specialist group pursues the goal of making Vienna an attractive location for knowledge -based services. With over 25,000 members, Ubit is not only the largest specialist group in Austria, but also plays a crucial role in representing the interests of management consultants, bookholders and IT service providers. The challenges of the market require new approaches and innovative solutions to meet the high need for qualified specialists. The awareness of the relevance of these professions in society is intended to strengthen educational offers and information events.
